A Founding Father's Private Project
Thomas Jefferson believed Jesus of Nazareth was one of history's greatest moral philosophers, but not a divine being. Over the course of several years, he took a razor and glue to six printed copies of the New Testament in four languages and carefully extracted the passages he considered genuine moral teaching.
He removed the virgin birth, the resurrection, the miracles, and every claim of divinity. What remained was a slim, powerful chronological account of Jesus's ethical philosophy, a text Jefferson never published in his lifetime.
"The most sublime and benevolent code of morals which has ever been offered to man."Thomas Jefferson, on the teachings of Jesus
Today, this work lives in the Smithsonian. It has been published by numerous presses, narrated on Audible, and read by millions. But there has never been a dedicated app designed to present it the way it deserves: with historical context, beautiful typography, and the scholarly depth this text demands.
Until now.
